Interregnum of Wang Mang, AD 7-23
The interregnum of Wang Mang was a very interesting time in Chinese history, but remember the old curse, "May you live in interesting times".

During the English Interregnum of 1649-1660, a republican half-crown was issued, bearing the arms of the Commonwealth of England, despite the name of the coin's monarchist associations.

After his father's death on August 31, 1879, there was an interregnum in which George T. Morgan was being considered for the chief engravership. However, the position passed from father to son, and a few months later Charles E.

The length of this Interregnum and the degree to which the Empress actually ruled over the Empire is a matter of some controversy beyond the scope of this page.

The letter also pardoned subjects for treasons committed during the interregnum but required the Commonwealth's laws be reviewed and anything against the King's authority or government should be annulled and repealed.

RIC Volume V, Part I - Valerian I to Interregnum
Volume V, Part I was written by Percy H. Webb and edited by Harold Mattingly and Edward A. Sydenham. The latest edition is from 1927 and was reprinted in 1998. It is 424 pages and 12 pages of plates.

The first such occasion occupied the middle years of the seventeenth century, from the late 1640's to the late 1670's essentially the turbulent period of the Interregnum and the first part of the restored regime of Charles II.

After a six week interregnum Tacitus, aged seventy-five, assumed the purple and joined the army in Thrace, repelling a Gothic invasion. Tacitus died, due to natural causes or possibly assassination, after a reign of only six months.

The triskeles is, however, found on bronze coins of the types of Alexander and of the Macedonian interregnum, which provenance shows to be Lycian. Telmessus also issued a bronze coin in the time of Ptolemy I.

Zagreba #60 calls it "interregnum" after Constantine VII (913-959) and before Romanus II and Basil II (959-963)
There are various shapes of "B", from an almost modern "B" to a delta-shaped lower part.

The upper of these three coins is an uncommon cash coin of the Wang Mang Interregnum, 7-22AD. The center coin, for comparison, is a U.S. Morgan dollar.
