Marcus Aurelius, 7 March 161- 17 March 180 A.D.
Marcus Aurelius was recognized by the emperor Hadrian as a fine and capable youth and betrothed to the daughter of Aelius. The emperor Antoninus Pius adopted him and in 145 A.D.

Marcus Aurelius Probus was born in 232 in Sirmium in Illyria in the east. By the time he was 40, he was a leading Roman general under Aurelian, and had re-conquered Egypt for the Roman Empire.

There was earlier bad blood between them; Pompey had put down an earlier insurrection by Marcus Aurelius Lepidus in which Brutus's father had been involved; Pompey had had him executed.
