Market grade - The grade at which most reputable dealers and auction houses would offer an uncertified coin. Marks - Imperfections acquired after a coin is struck.
"Market Grade" Increasingly there has been a tendency to assign just a single number to describe a coin's grade, and to use no additional adjectives at all. Bumps, scratches, hairlines, etc.

6) When looking for a 1923-S in XF or better, purchase one with a full horn to the tip NOT a market graded coin with mint luster but not a complete horn. Flat heads rule on this issue. Knowledge is power.
This is known as market grade or market acceptable. Examples in mint state are actually graded more rigorously since they command such a higher dollar figure and the difference in price between the grades is so large.
