The first denominations to be minted were the one quarter, one half, one, two and three reales coins.

Smaller coins - one third and one quarter farthings - were minted mainly for use in some British colonies.

The highest denomination in the new base metal coinage was the sestertius, valued at one quarter of the denarius. This was struck in orichalcum (brass) as was its half, the dupondius.

These copper coins are not Indian but Turkoman - the first one may in fact be an Ayyubid coin (Ed.) ...
