Orodes II
Parthian Kingdom, Orodes II. Circa 57-38 BC. AR Drachm (4.10 gm). Court mint at Ekbatana. Obverse: Diademed bust facing left; Crescent behind. Reverse: Archer (Arsakes I) seated right on throne, holding bow; monogram below bow.

Orodes I 80-77 BC, silver drachm of 19.1 mm, 3.31 grams.
Obv: Bearded bust of Orodes I left, long hair, wearing tall crown.
Rev: beardless archer, seated right on throne; in right hand, bow; Greek inscription around.

After the death of Mithradates II, Orodes began to use a line 'whose father is a god' and stopped wearing the tiara.

Eldest son of Orodes II, led two invasions of Roman Syria and Asia Minor. Finally killed in 39 BC. Issued coinage during the reign of Orodes II, possibly as co-ruler of the empire. Phraates IV (38-2 BC) ...

Phraates (end of the first century or beginning of the second century AD) ...

Some of these may belong to Kamnaskires IV; others bear the names of Orodes = Orodes I of Parthia(?); Phraates = Phraates IV of Parthia(?) ; Osroes = Osroes of Parthia(?), &c.

He enlisted the aid of the Parthian king Orodes II to invade Jerusalem and help him win the position of High Priest. In response to this Rome backed Herod as king of the Jews and aided him in a war against Mattathias.
