High-maintenance? You? No! You just like the best. Owning a proof set isn't enough. For you, silver proof sets must be special. As a collector, you may want to considr prestige sets, also called prestige proof sets.

 


Prestige Set
A limited-issue Proof set from the U.S. Mint. Only released between 1983 and 1997, these sets included the Commemorative issues for the year, in addition to the regular mintage, and came encased in a book-like suede container.

A set of coins produced by the U.S. Mint containing one or more proof commemorative coins released in the same year, as well as a proof cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half.

Prestige Set: a special set of Proof U.S. coins that includes the normal denominations, plus one or more of the Proof commemorative coins issued that year.

In 1983, 1984 and 1986-97, Prestige Sets were also sold. Prestige Sets include all the coins in the regular set, plus one or two commemorative coins issued the same year.

Some years also have "Prestige Sets", proof sets that include commemorative coins in addition to the regular coins all in specially prepared "proof" form. These special proof sets can cost a little more, but they really make great gifts.
