A special Quarter Dollar appeared in 1932, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the birth of George Washington.

The 1856-D quarter eagle has the lowest mintage (874) of any coin struck at the Dahlonega Mint. This date is by far the worst struck of any of the Dahonega quarter eagles.

Quarters were only minted in 1815 because the banks had ordered them. In fact, the majority of the mintage of 1815 went to the Planters' Bank of New Orleans.

Quarters minted form 1965 to the present are a copper-nickel alloy (gross weight 5.67 grams) and currently have no numismatic premium.

Quarter dollar patterns with the motto were first struck in 1864 (J-386 to J-389, with the latter being struck in another metal, this time Nickel) as were again Half Dollar and Silver Dollar patterns.

Quarter Guinea
First struck in 1718, this tiny gold coin weighed only 2.1 grams and measured 16 mm in diameter, 2mm smaller than the modern 5p decimal coin and the same size as the silver threepenny piece.

The quarter's new Washington obverse design retains the familiar portrait of George Washington, with the inscriptions that are normally found on the quarter's reverse - "United States of America," Liberty," "In God We Trust," and "Quarter Dollar.

The Quarter Rupee coin has three distinct Obverse designs, which can be identified by examining the panels on the front of the dress. The floral patterns in the dress also differ. Note that type B only occurs on the issues of 1877 through 1885.

The quarter then current was Christian Gobrecht's Seated Liberty design as modified by Robert Ball Hughes. It had been in use since 1838, replacing the Capped Bust motif, and was very familiar to the public.

Canadian Quarter Dollar
Queen Victoria was on the Canadian silver quarter dollar from 1870 through 1901. This coin weighed 5.81 grams and had a reeded edge. The metal alloy was .925 silver and .075 copper, with a diameter of 23.62 millimeters. L.C.

This States quarter is Double Struck with a Brockaged reverse. The brockage is from the obverse of another coin being impressed into this coin during the strike. This prevents us from determining which of the State's quarter designs it represents.

The Washington Quarter
Strictly speaking, the coin was only intended for one year, as a commemorative of the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth.

The Washington quarter was introduced in 1932 to honor George Washington’s birth bicentennial. Originally the idea was to place his portrait on the half dollar but Congress decided to use it on the quarter instead.

The Liberty Head quarter eagle series was produced from 1840 through 1907. Unlike the larger denomination issues of this type, quarter eagles were never produced at the Carson City or Denver mints.

The quarter and half dollar also had essentially the same portraiture on the reverse; a naturalistic eagle with a shield superimposed upon its breast. For good measure, the Mint added rays around the eagle on these two coins.

This quarter was certified by PCGS MS 63. This is a spectacular major mint error and a unique discovery coin. It is the only known U.S. Quarter (pre-state or state) struck on the pure copper core.

This "Quarter Eagle" gold coin was the first intaglio or incuse design and represented a new approach for American coins.

Half ounce, quarter ounce and one tenth ounce versions of the Krugerrand are also available, but are not as common as the on ounce coin.
