SEVERINA (Ulpia), wife of the Emperor Aurelian, as she is certainly proved to have been as well from coins as from the dedicatory inscription of a marble copied by Muratori, which names her as ULPIA SEVERINA AVG.

Severina, wife of Aurelian, Antoninianus. Empress bust rt. on crescent/CONCORDIAE MILITVM, Severina as Concordia standing between 2 standards, SXXI in exergue, Ticinum mint, RIC 8. Centered, dark brown patina, nice bold portrait and rev.

Toward the end of the reign, Aurelian honored his wife Severina with coin issues. When Aurelian died in 275 AD, some students assign Severina the role of caretaker ruler until the eventual successor, Tacitus, was selected.
