Specimen Set - A set of non proof coins usually of one date and boxed. Struck to be sold to collectors or for presentation purposes and not for circulation.
No proofs were struck of the farthing and the denomination was not included in the Specimen Set of 1902. The blackened finish that was introduced in 1897 on S3964 was maintained on all the farthings of Edward VII.
[Australia] George V Four-piece 1916M Specimen Set in the Original Case REALIZED: $69,000. [Russia] Alexander III. Rouble 1892 REALIZED: $63,250.
Interestingly just 3,249 were struck in gem uncirculated condition for Wedding Specimen sets making it a rare AlBr dollar indeed. Finally, 6,500 were struck in 0.999 silver proof condition for the first release of the Fine Silver Proof Set.
