Die-struck Fake
Many of the more dangerous modern fakes of ancient coins are die-struck, as this is the only way to create the look and feel of an original die-struck coin, the lack of which is one of the keys to spotting other types of fakes.

Struck Fragments
The blanking press takes the coils of metal strips and punches blanks out of it, ejecting the webbing at the other end. The webbing is cut into small scrap pieces to be melted and recycled.

Struck or Cast ? Coins from Cherson from the 5th century through Constans II (641-668) were struck. Their fabric, if not their designs, resembles normal Byzantine coin fabric.

Struck thru
An error caused by a foreign object that got between the dies and the planchet when a coin was struck. A common Struck Thru error is a piece of wire that leaves an indentation that is usually mistaken for a scratch.

A counterfeit coin produced from a fake die. Comparison of a suspect coin with one known to be genuine will often reveal minor difference.

Double struck - A condition that results when a coin is not ejected from a die and is struck a second time.

Double-Struck - Said of any coin which has received two impressions from the working dies in accidentally imperfect alignment.

Struck at the US Mints in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Denver, the total mintage of the silver Peace Dollar is only a fraction of the better-known silver coins, the Morgan Silver Dollars.
