The Three Halfpence coin (1½d, 1/180th of a pound) was produced for circulation in the colonies, mainly in Ceylon and the West Indies in each year between 1834 and 1843, and also in 1860 and 1862 (and proof coins were also produced in 1870).

This 1835 Three Halfpence was struck over an 1834 - the image shows the 4 under the 5.

The three halfpence was issued again between 1834 and 1862 in the reigns of William IV and Victoria for use in the colonies. They never circulated in the UK, but these small silver coins, weighing 0.

"Group two halfpence" are those imitation halfpence now attributed to John Bailey in conjunction with Ephraim Brasher in New York City. "Group three halfpence" refers to the imitation halfpence produced at Machin's Mills.
