The rarest Type One gold dollar from the Dahlonega Mint. The 1854-D has the lowest mintage of any Dahlonega Type One gold dollar. All specimens have large, raised die striations on the reverse left of the mintmark.

The Liberty Head Gold Dollar (also known as the Type One Gold Dollar) was minted from 1849 to 1854. When the U.S. Congress passed an Act in 1792 authorizing the first American Mint, the Gold Dollar was not even considered or included.
