UNC / Uncirculated
Generalized term that refers to a coin which shows no signs of circulated wear or mishandling.
Cr. Unc. - Crisp Uncirculated, a new piece of paper money which has not been in circulation.

A mint state coin, valued only at bullion value. An example of a Junk UNC is an MS-60 1964-D Roosevelt Dime.

unc uncirculated - a new condition coin that does not have any sign of wear. Marks on the coin that may come from the manufacturing process do not keep a coin from being unciruclated.
saltwater Unc
A very deceptive term. Generally, a term to describe coins with a finely pitted surface, however, recent discoveries of coins that have been exposed to saltwater for over a hundred years has made this term inaccurate, if not obsolete.
saltwater Unc.: an otherwise Uncirculated coin that has been immersed in the ocean for many years, resulting in slightly grainy surfaces.
unc or unk or UN - abbreviation for uncirculated. uncirculated or un-circulated - a new condition coin that does not have any sign of wear. Sometimes also called mint or mint condition.
Mint State (Unc) - Absolutely no trace of wear.
Mint state coins vary from MS-60 to MS-70. As I stated earlier, MS-70 is perfect. No blemishes, good strike, great color, and a lot of other really nit picky stuff.
Left to right: unc 1925 penny (c.v $17,500), unc 1946 penny (c.v $3,500), 1937 penny (c.v $250,000+), 1937 shilling ( c.v $195,000) and a proof 1939 (roo) halfpenny (c.v $40,000).
For completeness, it includes mintmarks, internet phrases, and a few abbreviations (like UNC). I have been informed that true acronyms are pronouncable, such as MASH, WAC, RADAR, etc.
If there is absolutely no wear on any of these high points - a magnifying glass should be used to check - then the obverse side may be graded UNC.
Unc. = Uncirculated (In new condition as issued, but not necessarily perfect.)
EF = Extremely Fine (Slight surface marks or slight wear visible on close inspection.)
VF = Very Fine (Some wear on the raised surfaces, but still retaining much detail.
Lloyd, who in January 1934, in an article, "Collecting Paper Money," rued such listings as "$1 bill, red seal, Unc." The type of note, signature combination, date of issue, and other information was not provided! ...
There is one surprise: the Five Dollar Gold 1909-O in Unc has proved to be a strong performer. On the other hand, there is a always a difference between the reported retail price and the actual buying price.
Banknotes that haven't been issued and circulated are rated UNC and that is the highest value a banknote can have. In addition to that, the value for a specific note in the world paper money catalogue is listed for UNC condition.

Many of these dealers in the big magazines (COINS, Coin World, Coinage, Coin Values, etc) are known for selling cleaned coins as BU/UNC coins. Before buying from a dealer in these magazines, simply Google their store name and do some research.
The value pages do not give estimated values for coins in worse than Fine condition. For coins prior to 1815 only the next three grades are quoted for, while those from 1815 also include the Unc grade ...
