Uncirculated set: Set of coins issued by the U.S. Mint, consisting of one of each coin issued for circulated. Also called Uncirculated Mint set, or unofficially, a Mint set.

Uncirculated: Buffalo nickels that show no wear on their surface are graded as Uncirculated and avidly sought. The highest point of the design, the Indian's braid and hair above it are the first to show wear.

Uncirculated / Unc
General term that refers to a coin which shows no signs of circulation or wear. Uncirculated coins can still have lots of bagmarks and chatter, as well as deficiencies in strike and luster.

Uncirculated (Unc): No wear, although it is possible for the design not to be fully struck up in the minting process. There may be bag abrasions. Older coins may be tarnished or toned.

Uncirculated Coins
Coins with no wear at all are referred to as uncirculated or in mint state (MS). Grades from MS-60 to MS-70 in one point increments are used for mint state coins.

Uncirculated (MS-60) - Has no trace of wear but may show a number of contact marks, and surface may be spotted or lack some luster.

Uncirculated (Mint State-60, Mint State-61, Mint State-62)
A Charlotte coin graded Mint State-60 will often show heavily abraded surfaces. These marks will impair the luster somewhat, even though no true wear will appear on the high spots.

Uncirculated: The term "uncirculated" may have three different meanings when applied to a coin.
First, it can refer to the particular manufacturing process by which a coin is made.

Uncirculated - Without rub, friction or wear from circulation.
Variety - A minor change from the basic design type of a coin.
Year Set - Collection including one coin from each year within a series.

Uncirculated: a coin in new condition, sometimes said to be "brilliant uncirculated" or "BU." The term is often used interchangeably with Mint State.
Yield: a measure of the annual return on an investment expressed as a percentage.

Gem Uncirculated
The adjectival equivalent of Mint State 65 or 66.
Ghosting
When the outline of the design on one side of the coin appears faintly, in reverse, on the other side.

Gem Uncirculated: a grade range of 65 to 66 on a scale of 1 to 70.
Gobrecht dollar: U.S. Silver Dollars designed by Christian Gobrecht and struck from 1836 to 1839.
gold: a soft, precious metal of yellow color.

Gem Uncirculated - A grade of a coin struck for circulation. I consider this to be the highest grade that a coin can achieve.

abrasions Area(s) of a coin where a foreign object or another coin has displaced metal in an abraded fashion.

About Uncirculated - The grades AU50, 53, 55, and 58. A coin with an AU grade initially appears to be in mint state condition. Upon further inspection it is found to have slight friction or rub keeping it from a mint state grade.

The grades AU50, 53, 55, and 58. A coin that on first glance appears Uncirculated but upon closer inspection has slight friction or rub.

About Uncirculated
This coin grade is almost perfect. There is a light trace of wear on the coin, usually on the high areas of the coin.

About Uncirculated 50 (AU50): The coin will have traces of wear on most of the high points but it must have at least half the original mint luster.

About Uncirculated (AU-50)
There are traces of wear on most of the higher areas of the designs and considerable disruption is seen in the larger fields. At least half of the original mint luster is present.

SILVER and COPPER COINS :As the term would suggest, a coin which has seen little, if any, circulation in the commercial sense.

Almost Uncirculated - A coin or paper money note that is very close to being uncirculated. Upon first glance it may appear un-circulated. When inspected closely it will have a slight amount of wear or friction. Same as "About Uncirculated".

Grading Uncirculated Shield Nickels
MS-60
No wear may be present for this grade. Luster must be present, including on the high points.

Uncirculated Lincoln cents were set aside in quantity during the first year of issue, 1909, but after that they were generally ignored, except for a small band of collectors who acquired them by date and mintmark varieties.

Uncirculated. Coins showing no trace of wear. Coins graded MS 60-70.
Mintage
The number of coins originally struck at a particular mint with a particular date on the coin.

Uncirculated Grades (MS60 to MS70 The terms Mint State (MS) and Uncirculated (Unc.) are used interchangeably to describe coins showing no trace of wear.

Uncirculated - A circulation-strike coin that has never been used in commerce and has retained its orignal surface and luster; also called Mint State. A state of preservation to describe coins that show no wear from circulation.

Fine - Creased with clear signs of use and wear ...

Uncirculated coins are those coins that are not showing any wear and tear or to referred to as in mint condition. A mint state (MS) grading depends on a coins luster, contact marks, hair lines and overall appeal.

Uncirculated pieces must be free of any trace of wear at the hair above the forehead and over the ear. In addition, check the drapery on Liberty's bust and shoulder.

Uncirculated (Unc.) : In new condition but may show very slight signs of handling though not of wear.

Uncirculated coins made with specially prepared dies so the coins would have a beautiful satin finish-smooth, but not as shiny as a proof.
Series
collection of coins containing all mint marks and dates for a specific value and design.

Uncirculated - A Mint State coin free of any trace of wear.
Unique - An item of which one specimen only is known to exist.
Variety - Any coin recognizably different in dies from another of the same design, type, date and mint.
