The Washington quarter was introduced in 1932 to honor George Washington’s birth bicentennial. Originally the idea was to place his portrait on the half dollar but Congress decided to use it on the quarter instead.

The Washington Quarter is the current regular issue United States quarter dollar coin (showing George Washington) on the obverse, and an eagle on the reverse.

The most famous mule in recent history was the Sacagawea dollar flan (coin blank) with the dollar reverse and 50 States Washington Quarter obverse.

Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, and Kennedy Half-Dollars are much tougher to come by and their pricing reflects it. Undated Roosevelt Dimes are usually available for five dollars or so depending on the degree of the off-center strike.

Washington quarters (1932 to date) are perhaps too recent to attract serious numismatists in large numbers, but there is no doubt that early Washington issues of the 1930s, particularly in higher grades, have been hard to find.

You can buy a 1942-S BU Washington Quarter, priced by some dealers at $148.00. A 1932 D Quarter of Extremely Fine grade can be worth $160.00. And, George, errors such as chopping down a cherry tree aren't a blight on your presidency.

I recall having a hard time finding Gem MS-65 Washington Quarters. They all seemed to have scuff marks on the forehead.

In 1975 and 1976, the Washington quarter was also used to commemorate the United States Bicentennial with a circulating commemorative.

that the area opposite it on the reverse did not strike up.

But a newer coin like a Washington quarter or Kennedy half being a mule? Probably not.

(With only three known exceptions. One is from the 1800s - a double-head Indian Head Cent. Another is a two-tailed Washington Quarter. The third is a two-tailed dime from the 1980s.) ...

The same applies for the Sac Dollar and Washington Quarter dies, and the Australian $1 and 10c dies. However, a grey area rises when dies of the same denomination are used in combinations that may be normal in some years but not in others.
