Thus President Washington's portrait appeared on the one-cent stamp, John Adams on the two-cent, and so on right up the line to Grover Cleveland whose portrait appears on the twenty-two-cent stamp.

"Cleveland Roulettes" were created during a 1914 Christmas holiday shortage of perforated stamps.

Other carriers' stamps were used locally in Baltimore, Boston, Charleston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Louisville, New York, Philadelphia, and St. Louis. (Scott LB). They were issued by or under the authority of the local postmaster.

On June 30, 1974, 33 years after the first experimental trip, the last Highway Post Office made its final run over the Cincinnati-Cleveland (Ohio) route. Ironically, Railway Mail Service outlasted Highway Post Office Service by three years.
