Philately ClichCoast Guard

Cliché: The individual unit consisting of the design of a single stamp, combined with others to make up the complete printing plate. Individual designs on modern one-piece printing plates are referred to as subjects.

 


Variedad de composicion: (Sp.) variety in the setting of the printer's type, the make-up of the stamp design or in the positioning of a cliché on the printing plate.
Variedad de dentado: (Sp.) perforation variety.

It is not known exactly what went wrong, but the most likely explanation is that a cliché of the 8-skilling printing plate (which consisted of 100 clichés assembled into a 10 x 10 array) was damaged or broken, ...

Retouch - minor handwork made to a cliché, plate, or die to repair accidental damage or wear.
Revenues - stamps representing the prepayment or payment of various taxes. Revenues are affixed to official documents and to merchandise.
