Buzones columnas: (Sp.) pillar, or mailing boxes in streets, as opposed to those in post offices.
Buzones tranvias: (Sp.) posting boxes on Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao tramcars.

The first postage stamps of the UK, the Penny Black, were printed in sheets of 20 rows and 12 columns, but the location on the sheet was indicated by different letters in the bottom corners of each stamp.

Column - A single-stamp width multiple of stamps.
Combination Cover - An envelope or card affixed with one or more stamps of the same theme.

The first few issues of stamps were in sheets that had rows and columns shown by letters of the alphabet. This example shows row "A" and column "A", so we know it was the stamp in the top left corner of the sheet.

A - 1.) a marginal marking used on flat plates indicating uniform vertical spacing between columns of stamps. This marking was intended to assist operators of perforating equipment. 2.) the prefix letter used by the American Bank Note Co.

A final method of disposing of stamps and stamp material -and this applies to collector and non-collector-is to use advertising space in stamp magazines or newspaper stamp columns. Many stamp finds and collections have been sold in this manner.
