Cracked Plate A term used to describe stamps which show evidence that the plate from which they were printed was cracked.

 


Cracked Plate - a crack in a printing plate that shows up on the corresponding stamps. Cracks can be progressive, that is, they can get worse with time and use.

Cracked Plate. Due to accident or mechanical imperfection a crack may appear and show as a line on printed stamps.
Crease. A fold running through a stamp, considered a defect.

Cracked Plate - Stamp showing evidence that the plate from which it was printed was cracked.
Crash Cover - A cover saved from the wreck of a plane, train or other vehicle with a postal marking explaining the damaged condition.

Sprukket plate: (Nor.) cracked plate.
Spud Papers: series of articles on forgeries that appeared in the periodical The Philatelist, starting in 1871.
