Cranes on Stamps
In tribute to one of the original sponsors of this project (Crane & Co.), I've started a small collection of cranes.
Below are two very nice hand-painted FDC's.
Or how about Dragons?

Mail was exchanged via cranes on which postmasters hooked a mail pouch. As the RPO car passed by, the mail was snagged by a hook attached to the side of the train car.
