Cut Cancellation: A cancellation that cuts the stamp. Often a wedge-shaped section is cut away. On many issues, such cancellations indicate use of postage stamps as fiscals or telegraph stamps rather than as postage.
*Cut Cancel - a cancellation that slices into the stamp paper. Most commonly found on revenue stamps. Stamps with cut cancellations are generally considered less desirable.
