Korea was occupied by Japan during WWII, and made to use Japanese stamps for postage - this First Day Cover commemorates the release of the first Korean stamps after Independence.

 


South Korea jumped on the idea wholeheartedly and to this day has produced more scented stamp issues than any other country.

North Korea threatens a military response if the United Nations Security Council questions or condemns it for the ROKS Cheonan sinking.

This joint issue was released to celebrate the partnership between Australia and Korea. It illustrates musical instruments, symbolic of the two countries, being played.

As the Red Cross's influence grew worldwide, so also spread the seals, eventually appearing as far afield as Korea where a Christmasy mother and child design might seem slightly odd.

November 11th, the day Canadians remember the men and women who sacrificed their lives in time of war - more than 100,000 who died in the First World War (1914 - 1918), the Second World War (1939 - 1945) and the Korean War (1950 - 1953).

The Canadian Remembrance Day stamps eternalize the soldiers who died in battle during the two World Wars and the Korean War.
