Last Day: The final day of a postal rate, post office operation, use of a particular postmark or similar occurrence; often referred to as Last day of use (LDU).

 


Last Day of Sale - 1) the day a stamp is removed from sale by the Postal Service. 2) a slogan cancellation applied to stamps on the last day of sale. A "Last Day of Sale" cancellation was used for the first time on March 16, 1997.

Last Day Cancellation - Refers either to the last day of a postmark's use or the cancel made on the last day of a post office's operation.

The State of Franklin was created in August 1784, and ceased to exist on the last day of February 1788. The counties became part of Tennessee, when the former Governor of Franklin, John Sevier, became the first Governor of Tennessee.
