What makes maximum cards more fun than stamp collecting (at least in my eyes) is that you can create your very own maximum cards. No stamp collector can do that. ...

Maximum Card: A picture postcard with a reproduction of the stamp or related subject from which the stamp was derived. These generally accompany a first day of issue of new stamps.

Maximum card - pictorial postal cards bearing (a) a relevant picture or design, (b) a stamp related to the subject on the card, and (c) a postmark relevant to both postage, postal card, and event, personage, place, or other subject thereon.

Maximum card - a picture postcard bearing a postage stamp and a postmark relevant to the picture on the card. The design on the stamp usually mirrors that on the postcard.

Maximum cards are postcards that have post stamps applied on their designs. A stamp on maximum card should have the same theme as the postcard picture. Thus, taking stamps off the postcards will defeat its purpose.

An adaptation of the First Day collection is the collection of Maximum cards. This consists of a picture postcard to which is attached a stamp bearing a duplicate of the picture on the card.
