Mounting Stamps
The Trans-Mississippi Issue commemorated the settling of the Middle West. This stamp is the 4c Indian Hunting Buffalo stamp. This series was issued in 1898 and is a very nice set to collect.

 


Mounts come in strips that you cut to size, or you can order them already cut to fit the stamps you wish to mount. There are several brands of mounts.

STAMP MOUNTING, AS A TOPIC, is as tall as it is wide. The only broad rule is to be neat-after that it becomes a matter of personality. Many collectors use printed albums, and wisely so, because of lack of time, desire or funds.

Mounts. Vinyl or plastic holders, clear on the front and with gum on the back. Stamps and philatelic items are placed inside the mount and them mounted into an album.
Multicolor. More than two colors.

MOUNT: Plastic sleeve which allows stamp to be placed in album without using a hinge.

The act of carefully placing stamps on album pages for exhibition or personal display. It is vital that stamps are properly and carefully mounted to avoid any form of damage.

Mounting Your Stamps
When you put the stamps in your album, this is called 'mounting' the stamps. If you do have a stamp album with plain paper pages, you will have to use Hawid Mounts or stamp hinges.

Mounting Your stamps
The most common and affordable method to safely mount stamps is the pre-folded Stamp Hinge . This small gummed, semi-transparent paper is the link between the stamp and the album page and yet can be easily peeled from the stamp.

You can mount memorabilia into clear, polyethylene photo sleeves to place in an album. There are many choices for the aware consumer. At the end I will list a few places that you can turn to for assistance.

The whole idea is to use the page to mount stamps so let's get out some stamps and a ruler. Pick the first stamp you want to place on the page and measure the stamp. I choose a US commemorative and it measured 1 inch high by 1.5 inches long.

These routes are classified as either 'mounted' routes (for those that require a vehicle) or 'walking' routes (for those that are done on foot).
