Any stamp that is printed in three or more colors. Stamps printed in two colors are generally referred to as bicolored stamps.

Huck Multicolor Press - a nine-color, web-fed, intaglio press used by the BEP from 1968 to 1976. The Huck Press could print, tag, gum, and perforate stamps in one continuous operation.

Bands of multicolor microprinting that say "TEN POUNDS" cover the bottom fourth of the stamp and continue up through the design of Britannia. Queen Elizabeth's portrait is in silver metallic, and the £10 denomination is purple metallic.

Senefelder had experimented in the early 1800s with multicolor lithography; in his 1819 book, he predicted that the process would eventually be perfected and used to reproduce paintings.

Color Shift A variety where one or more colors of a multicolored stamp are misaligned.

Color missing - usually denotes an error in the printing process. It might be a completely missing step or the accidental stoppage of ink in a fountain on a multicolor press.
