NH. Never Hinged.
Official. Stamp or stationery used to pay postage by a government agency.
Offset Printing. A printing process that transfers an inked image from a plate to a roller, the roller then applying the ink to the paper.

 


NH means "Mint, Never Hinged", and is often indicated (in auction catalogs, for instance) by a pair of asterisks (**). It means the stamp is unused, and its gum has absolutely no disturbance of any sort. Post Office fresh.

NH: Never Hinged. A stamp without hinge marks. A never-hinged (NH) stamp usually has original gum, but this is not always the case.

Centering usually varies from side to side or corner to corner on a sheet, so I have specified the range of centering where applicable.

Never hinged (NH): 1: term meaning that the stamp has never been hinged and has the original gum in post office condition.

A stamp that has never been hinged (NH) is worth more since the value of these issues is based on them being hinged.
A USED stamp is one that has seen postal duty and has been canceled so that it cannot be used again.
