The foreground stamp is part of the Norse-American issue, issued in 1925. The Norse-American Issue commemorated the 100th anniversary of the first Norwegian immigrants' arrival on the ship called the Restaurationen.

It is pleasing to reflect that if we had bought a couple of sheets of the Norse American stamps when they were first issued in 1925 our investment of seven dollars would today be worth several hundred dollars.

On the other hand, the Norse American stamps were known to be the least produced commemorative stamps in the USA. They were printed in sheets of 100 stamps instead of the usual 200 stamps.

A 1925 philatelic cover, produced by adding common foreign stamps to a usage of a United Statse 2-cent of the "Norse-American issue". The postal clerk should have rejected this cover, but instead the foreign stamps received US postmarks.
