Stamp dealer covers, although not as widely collected as other types of philatelic cover, are collected by those who enjoy the history of philately itself.

Philatelic cover anatomy
A cover consists of the following:
- Envelope - post offices often issue special envelopes for philatelic covers. Philatelic cover envelopes have elaborate designs.

Philatelic Cover: An envelope, postal card or other item franked and mailed by a stamp collector to create a collectible object. It may or may not have carried a personal or business message.

Philatelic Cover - a cover that is philatelic in origin, as opposed to a cover produced in the normal course of commercial or personal correspondence.
Philatelic Foundation, The - a leading organization in the expertization of stamps.

Philatelic cover: Envelopes that are specially stamped & used as a collectible.
Philately: The collection &study of postage stamps and other philatelic material like postal stationary and postal history.

Philatelic Numismatic Combination (PNC) - A combination of a cover, coin and a related stamp.
Philately - The collection and study of postage stamps, postmarks, stamped envelopes, etc.

Non-philatelic covers with the German AMG stamps are plentiful, as the stamps were used widely for at least two years. One attraction of the AMG - Germany stamps is the many printings, varieties, and errors.

An oddball philatelic cover that mixes the stamps of several places together.

Philatelic covers are covers that were created by or for collectors for the purpose of being collected.Sometimes the line between commercial and philatelic covers blurs.

Philatelic cover: a cover specifically made to be a collectible item.
Philatelic exhibition: stamp show open to the public, sponsored by stamp clubs, dealers or the postal administration.
