Piece
A fragment of an envelope or parcel containing stamps and, usually, the postmark. When stamps are found on such objects, they are said to be on-piece.

On piece: A stamp on a portion of the original envelope or wrapper showing all or most of the cancel. Stamps on piece are usually saved that way.

On piece: A stamp on a part of an envelope preserved with the cancellation.
Original gum: gum that is present in mint stamps & not tampered with.
Oxidation: Darkening of the ink stamps when they come in contact with air and sunlight.

"On piece"
Philatelists use the term "on piece" to describe a cancelled stamp on a piece of paper, usually a corner cut from an envelope, and ideally including all of the postmark/cancellation. A stamp may also be "on cover", i.e.

Used on Piece Stamp retained on a portion of the original cover to preserve the entire postmark
Used Abroad Stamps of one country used and postmarked in another country.

A piece of postal stationery is a stationery item, such as an envelope, letter sheet, post card, lettercard, aérogramme or newspaper wrapper, with an imprinted stamp.

A position piece is a stamp or multiple with marks on the stamps or in the selvage that identify the location that the piece came from in the sheet or pane.

An important piece of information a catalogue gives is the price. A catalogue usually gives two prices for each stamp.

Hinges - Small pieces of gummed paper that are used to affix stamps to an album page. Hinges allow for stamps to be removed from an album page without damaging the stamp.
Imperforate - A stamp sold without perforations or separating holes.

FILLER - A stiff piece of paper or cardboard found inside a First Day Cover. It provides necessary stiffness for a clearer cancellation. It also provides protection to help prevent the bending of the cover as it travels through the mail.

Hinge. A tiny piece of glassine-like paper, gummed, folded and then used to mount stamps into an album.
Imperforate. Stamps without perforations or separation device between then on a sheet.

It may be a pen marking or even the removal of a small piece of the stamp.

'Perforation' is the effect of removal from a sheet of stamps of many small, usually circular, pieces of paper. This allows the stamps to be separated from each other, usually by folding along the perforations, and then tearing.
