PNC. Plate number coil. Postage Dues. Stamps or markings that indicate an underpayment of postage. Postal History. The study of postal markings, routes and rates of mail. And anything to do with the history of the mails.
PNC: A philatelic-numismatic combination: a cover bearing a stamp and containing a coin, medal or token. The coin and stamp are usually related; often the cover is cancelled on the first day of issue of the coin.
PNC - abbreviation for Plate Number Coil. See Coil Plate Number. Pneumatic Mail - mail moved between post offices and railroad stations by pneumatic tubes in certain large cities, beginning with Philadelphia in 1893.

PNC — "Plate number coil." A PNC is a United States coil stamp that shows the plate number, usually at the bottom of the stamp design. A 1¢ violet Omnibus PNC (plate number coil) stamp is shown in Figure 7.
PNC collecting is one of the many byways of modern U.S. philately, with a few dedicated followers, and a giant ho-hum from everyone else.

A plate number coil (PNC) is a United States postage stamp with the number of the printing plate or plates printed on it. The plate number typically appears as one or more small digits in the margin at the bottom of the stamp.
Australia's first Postal Numismatic Cover (PNC) was issued in April 1994 and featured the International Year of the Family 45 cent stamp and 50 cent coin. Australia has issued several stamps which look just like gems.
