Dandy Roll
In papermaking, the dandy roll is a wire mesh (sometimes containing watermark bits), which presses the paper pulp as it leaves the vat, forming the basic texture of the paper.

The dandy roll is a light roller covered by material similar to window screen that is embossed with a pattern.

The design is then transferred to a transfer roll and then from the transfer roll to a printing plate. The recesses created by transferring the design to the plate are filled with ink in the printing process.

In traditional intaglio printing, a transfer roll is made from a die, and printing plates are made from impressions on the transfer roll. When more than one die is used in the production of an issue, distinctive variations are often identifiable.

Splice: The repair of a break in a roll of stamp paper, or the joining of two rolls of paper for continuous printing. Stamps printed over a splice are usually removed and destroyed before the normal stamps are issued.

Coil Stamps are the stamps you buy in a roll. If you look carefully you will see that two sides of the stamp are flat and two sides have perforations (small holes where you tear them apart).
