Scott furthermore notes that unused stamps with full original gum, in most cases, sell for more than copies without gum or with partial gum.

 


The sole U.S. registration stamp, a 10¢ ultramarine Eagle stamp, Scott F1, shown in Figure 7, was issued in 1911.
Canada used registration stamps, such as the 2¢ orange stamp, Scott F1, shown in Figure 8, during 1875-88.

Also of significance to some collectors is its coverage of countries and periods omitted by Scott for editorial or political reasons.

Certified Mail Stamp - a stamp issued in 1955 to pay the fee for Certified Mail. Scott FA1.
Chads - the bits of paper removed in the perforating process.

Even stamps over 100 years old from many countries are so common that the Scott catalog value is the minimum price that Scott feels a dealer can afford to sell an individual stamp at and still cover expenses. This minimum is $0.25.
