Short Set: An incomplete set of stamps, usually lacking either the high value or one or more key values. Sleeper: Stamp or other collectible item that seems to be under priced and may have good investment potential.
Getting back to buying stamps, I find that many dealer prices for short sets are very reasonable. "Short sets" are stamp sets missing a few denominations from being complete, often the higher values.
Short set - A set of postage stamps in which the top value (usually) is missing (or in which the most 'difficult' value is missing).
They may be "complete" - every stamp that was issued of a given series; or they may be "short sets" - just some of the stamps of the series.
Broken Set - See "Short set." Bulls Eye - Any stamp with a cancellation mark that is centered on the stamp's design. Burelage - A design of intricate lines used in printing to prevent counterfeiting or reuse of a stamp.
Complete sets are more saleable than short sets or those that have stamps missing. All other variables being equal, your incomplete Tonga set will sell for considerably less than the complete set.
