Special stamps proliferate in stamp programs

Broadly speaking, regular postage stamps can be divided into three categories: definitives, commemoratives and special stamps.

Special Stamp Albums
In addition to the ordinary albums and stock books mentioned, there are various albums designed for a special purpose.

Special stamps are the extra stamps the post office prints each year. The Love stamps and the Christmas stamps are special stamps.

Special stamp sheets:
Are produced for a variety of reasons and events: charities, football teams, concerts and even movies.
Stamp and coin cover (postal and numismatic cover): ...

Special stamps: Non-regular stamps issued on special occasions.
Specimen: Material which is used to identify philatelic material which is approved by the government.
Speculative issue: A stamp issued solely for collective purposes.

Special Stamps: Regular postage stamp issues that fall outside the traditional definitions of commemorative and definitive stamps.

Special stamps
Special stamps are ones that fit into none of the other categories(!) They aren't quite definitives, they're not commemoratives, and they are not service-specific stamps.

Special stamps
Holiday stamps are postage stamps that are made during special occasions every year. Examples of these stamps are Love stamps during Valentines and the Christmas stamps every Yuletide season.
