Definition: A stock book is a specially designed book used to hold stamps. It consists of cardstock pages with rows of slotted pockets going down the page. Stamps are placed into the slotted pockets.

Stock books
These are albums with pages made up of a series of pockets - like an approval card - in which to keep stamps.

albums and stock books
Now that you have a nice bunch of flat stamps, its time to mount them. You require a stamp album for this. Stamp albums are available in the hobby shops with country names and spaces for them. These are however costly.

You can also reuse stock books to store duplicate stamps if you eventually decide to mount your stamps on printed album pages.

Stock book - stock or duplicate books are obtainable in which loose stamps can be temporarily stored.

Album - A stamp album or a stock book is a safe way of keeping all your stamps in an organized fashion in one place.
Hinges - Except for when you have albums with pockets, you will need hinges to stick your stamps safely into your album.

" - use hinges or mounts or, my favorites, stock books and 'archival quality' philatelic albums - note: photo albums, usually present PVC and acidic black paper concerns.

4.) Stamp albums and stamp stock books - protect your postage stamps from humidity and direct sunlight by storing them in protective stamp album pages. Ideally, use a stamp album with an acid-free paper.

Complementing the albums are the stock books, also available in wide price ranges, for the storing of unmounted material and duplicates, and what are known as "approval cards" used by many collectors for the same purposes.
