TAB ART AND INFORMATION Tabs, which are spaces where stamps would normally be printed, are also used to convey information as well as to serve as a convenient space for additional artwork.
Tab - coupon, or other label attachment to a stamp. Tagging - phosphor coating on stamps used to activate automatic mail-handling equipment. This may be lines, bars, part of the design area or the entire stamp surface.

Advertising Tab. A stamp-sized space adjoining a stamp, on which paid-for advertising appears. Examples of this are met with in certain issues of Belgium. Affranchi. French for Postage. Another use is Affranchisement, meaning Postage Paid.
This is sometimes achieved with a small paper tab across the bottom of the postcard. Deltiology Deltiology is the study of postcards; the person doing the research, a deltiologist. Randall Rhoades of Ashland, Ohio first used the term.
A Bridge is the tiny tab that holds coil rolls together in a "Stick", about one every five stamps, with the placement randomly staggered in the stamp rows like brick seams in a wall.
