ABSORPTION reaches them When light strikes a medium and is neither reflected nor transmitted (passed on), it is said to be absorbed.

Absorption of Light
The fate of non-Reflected, non-Scattered light. The reason why black suits are difficult to light (and hot to wear) is that they absorb most of the light and convert it into heat.

ABSORPTION - Occurs when light is partially or completely absorbed by a surface, converting its energy to heat.
Slow shutter speed resulted in an ABSTRACT image of a dance performance.

-Absorption - the process by which light falling on a surface is partially absorbed by the surface.

oil absorption
the quantity of oil required to completely wet a definite weight of a given pigment, forming a paste.
oil-in-water emulsion
an emulsion that has water as the external phase and an oil as the internal phase.

The absorption of a photon by a silver bromide grain causes the ejection of a photoelectron from one of the bromide ions in the AgBr lattice:
Br- (in crystal) + photon - - - > Br(in crystal) + e- (mobile) ...

In degree of absorption of UV light under 400mu wavelengths -the industry standard- first are the UV filters, with "basic" reduction that varies across brands; then the Skylight (about 50%); then Haze 1 (about 70%), then Haze 2 (up to about 99.7%).

Color Filter Absorption - Absorption curves for some typical color filters
Filter Factors - Exposure adjustment for B&W photography
Light Source Color Temperatures - Color temperatures for some common light sources
Masking Spectrum ...

As previously, the absorption of light depends on its wavelength. Some wavelengths are absorbed and some are transmitted (which is determined by the object's chemical composition at a molecular level).

A "spectral line" refers to emission or absorption at a particular wavelength of light. Electron A negatively charged particle revolving round the nucleus of an atom. An elementary particle (of the type known as a lepton) with a negative charge.

For the albumen people, they initially got a very neutral looking photograph because the sulfur ions adsorbed to the colloidal silver image particles drove the absorption peak for the colloidal silver from the violet region down to the green part of ...

Absorption refers to how a paper absorbs ink on its surface. Absorbent papers let liquid inks soak into the paper taking the color along with them leaving images that look faint and washed out.

Fluorescence is the absorption of one wavelength of light (e.g. ultraviolet), or color and the re-emission of another.

The paper stock is coated with a resin that prevents absorption of liquids, in particular chemistry. This means that the paper can be washed thoroughly much faster than its counterpart, fiber paper. RC will also lay flat easier.

Watch for intensity of emotion, whether it be absorption in an activity, movement or interaction. Direct eye contact is great, but consider watching for those unguarded moments. Your zoom lens will be an asset in capturing these moments.

In years past, the reflection of light off the surfaces of individual lens elements and the absorption of light into the glass itself caused a multitude of problems, including ghost images, flare, poor contrast, and unfaithful color rendition.

One can find its uses in photography as developing agent, hair dying, dying of suturing materials and for oxygen absorption in gas analysis. It also has antiseptic properties. Limit exposure to this compound.

This absorption creates tonal differences on the resulting image and THz light has a much wider range of synchronous frequencies than X-rays.

UV Haze (aka "Haze 86," with 86% UV absorption)
Circular Polarizer
812 Warming Filter ...

The number by which an unfiltered exposure reading must be multiplied to give the same effective exposure through the filter. This compensates for the absorption of light by the filter.

When in the air and shooting, seat yourself comfortably in the center of the seat cushion for maximum comfort and vibration absorption.

7. Try to get as close to subject as possible. Scattering of light will mean that the further you are from the subject the more broken the resulting image will be. Absorption of light causes less contrast as distance increases.

The common configuration is a one-stop neutral-density filter on the top (to cut down the light above water to match the amount of light lost underwater due to reflection and absorption).

X ray film
is spectral sheet film for radiography, having a thick emulsion coated on both sides of the support to increase the absorption of X rays.

At the same time, they provide little actual insurance for the dangers that may confront your lenses in the real world. Lens hoods do much better at preventing flare and actually do provide some shock absorption if the lens gets dropped.

As you can see from the plot, the 3 "generics" along with the Tiffen UV protector really did not cut any appreciable UV down to 350nm. The Hoya and B+W filters showed definite UV absorption, the Hoya being more effective at UV blocking.
