-Ammonium thiosulfate - highly active fixing agent used in rapid fixing solutions which works by converting unused silver halides to soluble complexes.
Use an ammonium thiosulfate fixer (i.e. Kodak Rapid Fixer, Kodafix or Ektaflo Fixer). These fixers will work much more quickly than a conventional sodium thiosulfate formula (Kodak Fixer).
Sodium and ammonium thiosulfate changes undeveloped silver halide to soluble silver sodium thiosulfate. It removes this compound from the emulsion and refills the space it occupied with nonexhausted fixing solution.
A chemical solution (sodium thiosulfate or ammonium thiosulfate) that makes a photographic image sensitive to light.
Most fixers are based on the thiosulfate ion, especially ammonium thiosulfate. Up until the 1970s, sodium thiosulfate or 'hypo' was the commonly used fixer.
Rapid fixer. Fixing bath using ammonium thiosulfate or thiocyanate instead of the normal sodium thiosulfate. Enables fixing time to be greatly reduced, but is more expensive.
