Auto levels
Basic automatic correction technique employed by scanning and image processing software. Usually, the process takes an Integrated reading of the image and attempts to adjust the image by targeting a neutral scale for all values.

"Auto" simply means the camera will automatically take these exposures as a burst of 2, 3 or 5 frames with exposure settings of anything between 0.3 and 2.0 EV difference.

Auto works in a wide variety of lighting conditions and is the default setting that you should try first. If it doesn't work you can try other settings such as flash or tungsten, or manually set white balance if your camera lets you.

AUTO EXPOSURE or AUTOEXPOSURE - Shutter speed and aperture are set automatically by the camera based on its interpretation of the camera's exposure meter readings.
Auto Focus

AUTO FLASH ICON
If you press the lightning bolt button on your digital camera, you will likely see this icon. This indicates that the camera is in AUTO FLASH mode. That means that the camera will decide whether or not to pop the flash.

Auto-exposure
The camera has a built-in light meter and computer that measures available light and sets exposure for you. A feature on moderately-priced to expensive cameras.
A (Auto White Balance): automatically adjusts the white balance between 4,200 and 7,000k.
Incandescent: The color temperature of this setting is basically fixed at 3,000k.
Fluorescent: The setting is fixed at approximately 4,200k.
NEW Auto Picture Rotation: A useful new function that ensures your photos are always the right way around in playback.
Full Auto No Flash Mode - This can be used in settings where you want to capture the ambient lighting and don't want to use flash. The Nikon D5000 camera takes care of everything else.
