A histogram is a bar chart that shows you whether a photographs exposure is good or bad. You can view the histogram on your camera's LCD screen after you have taken the shot. A histogram looks similar to the image shown below.
Digital image histograms are presented as a bar chart with the horizontal axis being the tonal range of your image (see above example). The left side of the graph is 0 (zero) and the right side of the graph is 255.
This gives them a brilliant bluish white color that makes them look extra bright and impressive for boring bar charts of sales figures, but make your reds look dull and dark.
Histogram this is the bar chart you often see in the Levels controls of image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
