Bit-mapped
Bit-mapped refers to the way in which images are reproduced in a grid of dots, known as pixels. Each pixel within a bit-mapped image is a distinctive shade of black, white or grey.

Bit-mapped. Images formed from pixels with each pixel a shade of gray or color. Using 24-bit color, each pixel can be set to any one of 16 million colors.

Bit-Mapped Graphics
Refers to hardware and software that represent graphics images as bit maps. The other method for representing images is known as vector graphics.
Block Graphics
Graphical images created in character mode.

Bit-mapped Graphics: Graphic images which are formed with sets of pixels, or dots, with a specific number of dots per inch. Also called raster graphics and paint-type graphics. Contrast with vector graphics.

A bit-mapped file format used by Microsoft Windows. The BMP format supports RGB, indexed-color, grayscale, and Bitmap color modes.
Bracketing ...

This is one of the bit-mapped formats, and is commonly used with Windows PCs. A BMP is uncompressed data similar to a TIFF.
Channel
This refers to a path of data that is stored with your pictures. The colors in your pictures consist of three channels ...

There are two essential elements of graphic-interface software: MOUSE and a BIT-MAPPED DISPLAY. The mouse is a small hand-held device that must be connected by a cable to a computer.

The term is most often used to describe monitors, printers, and bit-mapped graphic images. In the case of dot-matrix and laser printers, the resolution indicates the number of dots per inch.

If you would enlarge a small area of a bit-mapped image you would clearly be able to see the pixels it is made up of. Together these pixels form a massive grid that creates the illusion of a continuous tone image.

A graphics program that provides a variety of special features for altering bit-mapped images for photographs and graphic images.
image processing:
The manipulation of images that have been scanned or captured by a digital recording device.

TIFF (Tagged Image File Format)
The standard file format for high-resolution bit-mapped graphics. TIFF files have cross-platform compatibility.
True color
Color that has a depth of 24-bits and 16.7 million colors.

PICT - A graphics file format used primarily on Macintosh computers. PICT files can contain both object-oriented and bit-mapped graphics. There are two types: PICT I and PICT II. PICT II is the current standard and supports color up to 24-bit.

Bitmap. The method of storing information that actually maps an image pixel bit by bit. Formats include; .bmp, .pcx, .pict, .tif, .tiff, .gif. Most picture files are bit-mapped.
