Creating Dark Blue Sky Using Polarizer Filter - Dramatic Sky
On SLR cameras, the usual polarizing filter has to be screwed onto the lens. Of course, you need to pay attention to the diameter of the ring. It is generally mentioned on the lens itself.

Red, orange and yellow tones evoke a feeling of warmth while blue, green, and purple are cool and refreshing. Warm tones are often more striking and seem to pop off the page while cool ones recede and are more subdued.

Three Cheers for the Gold-N-Blue
The Singh-Ray "Gold-N-Blue" polarizer is a specialized filter that I don't often use. But there are times when it proves down right indispensable.

Use the adjustment sliders to emulate the approximate values Photoshop would select if you had chosen "grayscale" or "desaturate" as above; Red=20%, Green=70%, Blue=10%.

A friend told me about a polarizing filter that imparts color to the image. Where would you use this kind of filter?

Split Blue and Copper Toning Using Color Balance
Split toning is a popular darkroom toning technique that is based on the principle that some chemical toners work on the dark tones of the photo first and others on the light tones.

Blue is the only color which maintains its own character in all its tones. Take blue in all its nuances, from the darkest to the lightest - it will always stay blue. - Raoul Dufy
