One good example is the set of do-it-yourself borders Pentax packs into the Optio W30. You’ll find this feature in the W30’s “Digital Filters' menu. Many other cameras and camera brands offer border options.
Add A Border
Adding a border around a picture can sometimes be an effective way to highlight the picture. Instead of going automatically with borders that look like traditional picture frames, consider more original and elegant options.
If you see the flashing or blinking borders when you preview every photo, chances are, the highlight mode was the last information screen you looked at.

Borderless printing - This is a printing technique, offered on specific photo printers, that allows prints to be generated without the frame (or nonphotographic dead space) that is often associated with print developing.

I also really enjoyed this book; however, I have one major issue with it. He often insturcts you to close down the aperture to eg. f22 and "focus at 2 feet".

A midday sun generates especially very strong contrasts illuminating only parts of the subject and showing garish top lighting while the shadows are very dark and sharply bordered. Details in the shadow parts are hardly seen.
A full page bleed has an image covering the entire page with no borders. In order to give the printer some leeway in trimming a page with a bleed image you need to provide an image that extends beyond the crop marks.
