Camera is an abbreviation of camera obscura (Latin for dark chamber), mainly known as a facility for landscape artists in the 18th century.

6 The Camera Body

The body of the camera is, basically, a light-tight BOX that holds the all-too-precious light-sensitive chip, the shutter, a viewfinder and other electronics.

Camera shake is caused by movement at slow shutter speeds
Problem: camera movement while shutter is open
Camera shake occurs while the shutter is open and exposing the film. If there is any movement, it will show up as motion lines and ghost images.

Used cameras are fine; just make sure you check the shutter count. Mechanical shutters will eventually fail. The shutter count is also referred to as the number of actuations.
