Surprise is an important ingredient in a good travel photograph, and photographing your subjects from unexpected angles is a simple way to add the unexpected. Most of us tend to spot and snap potential subjects from an eye-level, straight-ahead point of view.

VIEWPOINT AND CAMERA ANGLE The proper viewpoint or camera angle is an important factor in good composition. Repositioning your subject within the viewfinder frame and changing the camera viewpoint or camera angle are two simple ways of controlling composition.

CAMERA ANGLE - Same as 'shooting angle' or 'viewpoint'. The position of the camera relative to the position of the subject.

Camera Angle
Of course, once you've crouched just a few inches off the floor or scaled the nearby fire escape, the angle that you point your camera will also greatly affect your composition.

Camera Angle. Various positions of camera placement relative to the subject's position. i.e. high, low, left, right, eye level, waist level, ground level, etc.
Candid Photographs. Unposed photographs of subjects during activity, most frequently taken without the subject's knowledge.

Does this camera angle work?
The easiest way to kill your chances of success is to choose a camera angle that highlights your wife's problem areas (if she has any). To avoid doing this, there are a few things to learn about lenses, distortion, and portrait photography.

Select a camera angle where the natural lines of the scene lead the viewers' eyes into the picture and toward your main center of interest. You can find such a line in a road, a fence, even a shadow. Diagonal lines are dynamic; curved lines are flowing and graceful.

It can be prevented by adjusting the camera angle, being sure the subject does not look straight at the flash, or with a redeye-reducing pre-flash. The pre-flash causes the subjects' pupils to contract, reducing the visible retina and thus the possibility of light reflecting from it.

The boat blends in with the building in the back and the photo could have been composed better. Selective focus with the background blurry is an option. A different camera angle horizontal or vertical could help - take many photos and choose from them.
