Camera Straps
Last week I wrote about how to carry your compact flash cards when shooting in the field. This week I figured it was about time I devoted some space to the subject of how to carry your camera.
I leave new camera straps wrapped up in their boxes for eventual resale, and buy superior straps to use in the field.
Here's what I use. Different weights of cameras demand different kinds of straps.

Camera Strap: If you have a camera strap attached to the body, place the far end around the back of your tricep. Extend it so the strap is fully stretched and loop your fingers around it so it now has a very snug fit .

Using your camera strap as a support device is not as effective as a tripod, but I learned this approach from someone who was an expert marksman.
Camera straps are one of the neglected pieces of camera equipment and one of the most essential. If a neck strap breaks the camera is almost certain to take a nasty fall.

On the subject of camera straps, with out a doubt the best strap is the Domke Gripper Strap. Wide enough to be comfy, and doesn't slip off. Ive used one carrying an n90s and a 300 f/2.8, for about 5 hours, wasn't sore or stiff at all.
Hold the camera firmly against your face and place your hand in the camera strap. Control your breathing while shooting. Each breath you take causes the camera to rise and fall slightly.

You will notice that there are no camera straps evident in any of these pictures. I personally am not a fan of the camera strap and prefer not to use them.
When shooting telephoto lenses, I often use the lens or camera strap as a device to help stabilize the camera. I wrap the strap over my right shooting shoulder and push the camera forward against the strap while holding the camera to my eye.
Make sure you put your camera strap to avoid your camera falling.
If taking a picture of a person, be sure that they are not affected by flash. Flash photography could cause some people seizures.

One trick is to wrap the camera strap around your fingers so that you will be more conscious of where they are.

There is no need to geotag photos of the interior of their own or others' property. I use it on all nature photography. I have the Canon 5D MkII and 7D, with WTF and Nokia GPS unit LW-3D with Bluetooth. GPS is attached to the camera strap.
