candela
a unit of measure indicting the amount of intensity developed by an artifical light.
candela per square meter

Candelas per square meter (CDm/2)
A unit of luminance which is defined as the luminous intensity of light that is either emissive or reflective. In digital photo imaging, it is used as the measure of a computer monitor's brightness level.

Candela
Unit of illumination (cd). 1 cd is 1/683W per steradian.
[CANDLE]
A preset setting on the camera. It is one of the selections for the [SCENE] function.

-Candela - unit which expresses the luminous intensity of a light source.

Shannon: If there are strong backlights (church windows by day, or LOTS of candles in a candelabra, for instance), I use AEB.

I'd really rather manufacturers would stop with the nonsensical 'effective watt-seconds', 'true watt-seconds', and define output in candela, foot-candles, lux, or even guide number (with angle of coverage and a standard distance stated).

I don't see conversion ability in the photometer, however one foot-Lambert (fL) is 3.426 Candelas per meter squared (Cd/m^2) if you need to convert. The inverse is 0.2919.

Lumen
A unit of measurement of Incident light. Lumens, like Lux, flux, candela, Foot Candles, foot lamberts, and Watt/seconds, were created by scientists and engineers to confuse artists.
Luminaire see Lights.

Here we use the term illuminance to specify only incident light. Both illuminance and luminance are typically measured in candelas per square meter (cd/m2). Approximate values for commonly encountered light sources are shown below.
