The tiny catch light in the young animal's eye was the sole reason for breaking one of the biggest guidelines in wildlife photography. It gives the rabbit a sweet, childlike quality while invoking thoughts of innocence and youth.
Flash for catch lights. Those small white dots in the eyes of people are part of what give life to a portrait. Photographers call them "catch lights." Those same catch lights give emphasis to the eyes of animals as well.

This probably won't change the glowing white catch light, so if that still has red in it, make a selection around that highlight (the Magnetic Lasso Tool would work for this) and use Image Adjust Desaturate to remove the red completely.
Look how beautifully the natural sunlight illuminated them and created beautiful catch lights. This is another option if you are wanting to set up some "portrait shoots", but don't have a well lit area inside your home.
The 90 degree bounce flash will provide soft, even, top lighting. The card will fill the soft but sometimes deep shadows from the "main light" like eye sockets and under the nose & chin and provide catch lights in the eyes.
The quality of light is everything. Make sure some of that diffused light illuminates the eyes. That will bring out the color and detail. And don't forget about those catch lights in the eyes. They add spark and life! ...
