Chamois

Chamois lightening the load for the get away - I put this one in for interest.

Carry a chamois to wipe down the front of the lens if any moisture or water droplets build up. If condensation accumulates on the filter, the image will lack contrast and the focus will appear soft.

If like me, you’re at sea in a storm, make sure you have a chamois cloth or something dry to clean the lens with. You need to do this repeatedly, otherwise what you shoot will be useless.

- An absorbent cloth - i.e., a chamois (chammy) - is ideal for soaking up snow and waterdrops on the camera body and lens body (but NOT the glass).
- Lens cloth - i.e., microfiber - or lens tissue can be used on the lens front (glass).

This is where the microfibre or chamois skin cleaning cloth and some water will be useful.

Bean or Cabela's heavy chamois shirts for this layer. Many good companies make pile jackets. While most of them are similar, some offer the added benefit of a wind-block material.
